Somerset braced for snow as cold snap goes on

THE region is again bracing itself for snow with the cold snap that has blighted most of the UK set to continue.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert of snow for Somerset on Saturday (February 4).

Temperatures are forecast to drop overnight to around -3 degsC.

The snow, which is expected to be country-wide, will move eastwards across England on the first half of Sunday.

The Met Office said: "Accumulations of snow of around 5cm are likely in places; this includes low lying areas.

"The public are advised that some travel disruption may result.

"Snow is like to turn to sleet then rain in Wales and more western parts of England later on Saturday."
