Highbridge Town drop points in 1-1 draw with Bridgwater Sports

HIGHBRIDGE Town's title hopes suffered a knock as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Bridgwater Sports.

Town went behind to a Richard Smith piledriver mid-way through the first half and were thankful to goalkeeper Steve Bailey for a couple of wonder saves to keep the scores at 1-0 before the break.

An inspired Town side came out fighting as veteran Wayne Hand levelled the scores but both teams were unable to finish their chances to claim the three points.

The result leaves Town four points adrift of table toppers Middlezoy Rovers with one game in hand on their rivals.

The teams are still set to meet each other in two mouth-watering matches before the end of the season.

Highbridge take on fourth-placed Staplegrove at home on Saturday.

*HIGHBRIDGE Town Reserves fell to a 5-1 defeat against Bishops Lydeard Colts, with Chris Jays grabbing the consolation goal.

They are away to Galmington Dragons in the Gardner Cup next week.
